What is Design known for?

Downtown Garden Adoption Program

The Downtown Garden Adoption Program offers an opportunity for businesses, individuals, and groups to embrace and support the vibrant downtown gardens in our community. When a garden is adopted, it receives a personalized sign displaying the sponsor's name. Annually, the committee organizes a delightful spring cleanup event, uniting all sponsors for a morning of camaraderie, nourishing breakfast, and tending to their adopted gardens. As an added bonus, participants have access to a complimentary supply of fresh mulch to enhance their garden's beauty. It's worth noting that our community boasts a total of 102 downtown gardens, each lovingly maintained by dedicated volunteers. The Design Committee's involvement in this program helps nurture our urban green spaces and foster community spirit.

C-2 Central Business District Design Criteria

The Design Committee is responsible for assessing and guiding building and outdoor aesthetics changes within our downtown business district. They review permit applications for design alterations, ensuring they adhere to established guidelines. Their role is to provide recommendations to the City Council, who make the final decision to approve or reject the permit. The Design Committee focuses on aspects like materials, design details, color, and overall harmony with the surrounding environment. Their input helps maintain the city's visual appeal and architectural integrity.
