We are a family-owned and operated business with a long and unique story.
At age 22, Gus Kapnisis came to the United States to work at a restaurant in Bloomfield, Iowa. Not long after, Tony Kapnisis, at age 17, made his way over and joined Gus. From there, the brothers owned a gas station and motel in Lansing. Their next business venture was a restaurant in Waukon, Manchester, and later, West Union, where Gus & Debbie met. In 1988, Gus & Debbie moved to Florida where they had a Miami Sub Shop. Then, in 1991 the couple moved to Gus’s hometown in Greece, had a Sport Shop, and owned and ran a hotel. Then, a few years later, after having their two daughters, they decided to move back to West Union. In 2004, the couple bought the well-known restaurant in town know as “The Town House”, where they dedicated themselves to serving a wonderful community. Then, in 2012 the restaurant tragically burned down. With the goal to start over, the couple rebuilt and reopened on the south side of Main Street, where it currently stands.
Gus passed away May 9, 2022. Now, Debbie and her daughters Yiota and Vicky (with husband, Kyle), own and run the restaurant— continuing the legacy Gus built.
