The Hurd Museum is located in Hawkeye. The purpose of the museum is to preserve the Hurd Building and to collect memorabilia that is housed in the museum for future generations to enjoy.

The Fayette County Historical Center is located at 100 N. Walnut Street. This center provides an educational opportunity for students, visitors and residents. The center is run by volunteers and funded entirely through donations.
